from runway to tabletop

the creative process

remember this?

it's one of the incredible collection pieces from alexander mcqueen's fall 2012 runway, a lineup that received praise from fashion critics everywhere. it's also an image i used in a previous post and the main source of inspiration for a creative shoot we shot last may. in the production of an issue of the new Weddingstar Inc Lookbook series that we designed and pulled together last year, i was given the abstract task of presenting future viewers with three distinct ways to pull together a pink colour scheme for their wedding.

with the issue in question now released to the public (you can see it here - www.weddingstar.com/lookbook/pink-color-story) i wanted to share with everyone how that creative process panned out for one of the interpretations. as always, it boils down to fashion inspired wedding designs and i love the hard edge this one brought to the table...pun intended.

so inspired by the above, we move to something like this...

and finally we end up with this...

ok, so i skipped a few complicated steps from the design process in this quick overview, but you get the picture! we called this interpretation of pink "for the boys" and invite any bride who's fiance refuses a pink colour scheme, because of its blatant femininity, to simply show him this.

happy styling!
